Boda Boda Safety

The SDAF advocates for Safety in collaboration with BAK , NTSA , police and other stakeholders , for a systematic approach to Boda Boda or motorcycle safety based on evidence. Positioned for Safety is the result of consultation with riders, the Boda Boda industry, road safety organisations, local government and government agencies. It provides a framework and direction for stakeholders to improve road safety for motorcyclists.

Our aim is to enable riders:
  1. To become informed participants in the boda boda safety forums.
  2. To take part in setting the agenda and driving issues pro-actively on behalf of motorcyclists rather than simply reacting to government policy decisions.

March 2018 is Motorcycle Awareness Month. As in previous years, the theme is 'Look Out for Boda Bodas' we are more focused than ever on making drivers aware of our presence on the road.

Boda Boda Awareness Month is both a celebration of motorcycling and an awareness campaign. Events this year include a Ride to Work Day, a Parliamentarians Ride, and support for events like Breakfast Torque, yellow reflector Ride and Border Bike Fest.

For the first time we will have prime time FM radio presence in major centres, with a radio campaign we are calling Boda Boda Awareness Torque. During this campaign we are in the car and really get the driver’s attention.

So get involved, attend the events, listen to and attend to our campaign, and enjoy the ride!
